Hot or Hell?

Loving God means keeping His commandments, and His commandments are not burdensome. 1 John 5:3

There is this false sense of security we all have about God Almighty. That because God is love there is no way He would send me anywhere predicated by the way I’m living now. ‘No, not my God!’ But why? Do we believe and  serve a more modern God, one who relates but does not judge?

We’re risk takers

Our time here is full of opportunity. To live how we want. Say what we want. Love who we want. And this is all done with a false sense of security. When has there never been a re-action to an action? Our actions. God’s re-action. We may think what’s hot now isn’t closely related to hell and its glamorization. But think again. Do we really want to take our chances on the appearance of choice, or better yet, rights? Again, thinking ultimately that God is only love?

I need more proof

Today’s visual perception (not knowledge) of God has blurred us to Jesus Christ.  And I would suspect it comes down to trust issues. Over 2,000 years and nothing; there’s no hope in sight. That Jesus Christ somehow came, went, and high-tailed it out of here. Right? Wrong! Jesus’ return has never had to come right away, it just had to be endured, supported, and believed. And since we’re living in a ‘right now’ world, self indulgent to the extreme, it would appear that we’re ‘winning.’ Trumping the Savior in the game of life.

It’s not a game

Believe it or not our actions, choices, and rights are aimed at the heart of God. We’re either chasing after His heart or marching to our own drum. Who or what are we really choosing to celebrate?

And who can win this battle against the world? Only those who believe that Jesus is the Son of  God. 1 John 5:5

  5. It’s so easy to just ‘go with the flow’ in daily life. Thanks for the reminder to check myself and make sure I’m living for his glory rather than my own selfish desires.

  6. Hi Debbie, thanks for the encouragement. You’re a joy!

God’s desire became my desire when my ambitions, passions, those wonderful things He plants in us all, became grateful expressions of the work of the Cross (Jesus).

  7. Hi Janna, thanks again.

From what I read on your blog, God is using your abilities for His glory. And you’re having a blast!
