Yet have regard to the prayer of your servant and to his plea, O LORD my God, listening to the cry and to the prayer that your servant prays before you, that your eyes may be open day and night toward this house, the place where you have promised to set your name, that you may listen to the prayer that your servant offers towards this place. 2 Chronicles 6:19-20

Ever wonder, ‘if I do this’ ‘will God do that’? The two letter word ‘if’ in this prayer is infinite in measure, in assurance, and in confidence. It is a dedication to our heart’s cry that ‘if’ we run, ‘if’ we come, ‘if’ we turn, to God in prayer that there in that place, is His assurance.

Prayer is a Place

(2 Chronicles 6:21)

Be there any time any place that you cannot pray? Your desk? Your car? Your bathroom? Where is there such a place where God cannot hear you? Us. His people.

‘If’ is the Christians place. ‘If’ I stop right now and pray I am in the place and the presence of God. Verses 22-39 of 2 Chronicles 6 gives us those instances:

‘If’ I’m in the wrong (vv. 22-23).

‘If’ I sin (vv. 24-27).

‘If’ there is lack (vv. 28-31).

‘If’ a stranger is in need of prayer (vv. 32-33).

‘If’ there is a need for justice (vv. 34-35).

‘If’ I backslide (vv. 36-39).

Prayer is the place where we can be our most intimate with God.

Seek His Assurance

(2 Chronicles 6:40)

There is assurance at the place of prayer. In verse 40 it reads, “Now, O my God, let your eyes be open and your ears be attentive to the prayer of this place.” There in our ‘if’s’ is God’s eyes and ears to our prayer. We can rest assured that we can always run, always come, and always turn, without reservation or hesitation, to the place of God.

So let’s go Christians, pray. There’s assurance wherever you are!
