Christ and His Family of Defended Sinners

My little children, I am writing these things to you so that you may not sin. But if anyone does sin, we have an advocate with the Father, Jesus Christ the righteous. 1 John 2:1

My noted thoughts:

  • There is family in this verse.
  • There is sensitivity to the sin nature in us all.
  • There is declaration of the actions and character of Jesus Christ (towards the Christian who acknowledges their sin).

It is my prayer (and hope) that no one ever sees me, thinks me, or reads me as sinless; but well defended.

This verse shapes the Christian to live. To live not to the trappings of sin but despite it. For us to not live our lives so guarded to tripping and falling that we don’t live our lives to the fullest, in Christ. Jesus himself guarantees… “Of those whom you gave me I have lost not one.” John 18:9

So let’s go Christians, live life, and live it well defended!

How does it feel to know and to live your life well represented in Christ? Comment below.
